Without doubt, one of the biggest features that all manufacturers aim to include on their handsets is a voice activated personal assistant. Apple has Siri, Samsung has S Voice, almost all Android devices have Google Now and since the launch of Windows Phone 8.1, Microsoft has Cortana.
With so many different options to choose from these manufacturers are having to differentiate, which can be difficult when the basic functionality is the same. Whilst Google Now delivers information without having to ask for it, Siri benefits from deep integration into the iOS platform.
What about Cortana, the newcomer from Microsoft? Since announcing Cortana alongside Windows Phone 8.1, the virtual assistant has been on something of a roll, including correctly predicting almost all the World Cup 2014 match results. Whilst this was a small comparison between the two, it’s clear that Cortana is definitely different to Siri. More than just a voice activated assistant, Cortana is being dubbed as your very own 24/7 personal assistant.
