Waterproof phones are all the rage right now as everyone (including myself) looks for that extra protection during daily usage. Having worked closely with customers for many years, I can tell you that apart from dropping phones in the toilet (which happens a surprising amount), the most common cause of liquid damage was when the phone got wet thanks to a little rain. Using your phone in the rain can often result in little drops getting inside your speaker grill or under the battery but with a waterproof phone, this is less of a concern.
Waterproof phones are more than just practical though as a waterproof phone means doing crazy things like taking pictures (or selfies!!) underwater whilst on the beach escaping the short British summer. If you’re one of the millions of people who have bought the Galaxy S5, I’m sure you’ve realised that it’s waterproof and can be submerged for a short period and still continue to work.
Here’s what you can do with your Galaxy S5 underwater:
There you have it – you can just about watch a video (when the screen doesn’t switch off) and you certainly can’t use the display but you can take a lot of pictures (and video) whilst you’re underground. Just remember – if you’re thinking of going swimming with sharks (or dolphins), the phone might be waterproof but it probably won’t survive being eaten by a shark, although that would be an awesome video to watch!
